Back in 2024, Jaguar's Type 00 made the world sit up and take notice. A radical, minimalist fastback Grand Tourer with a tri-motor, all-electric powertrain capable of delivering 1,000bhp.
This was just the concept but now, Jaguar has dropped the silk sheet on a production model that will go on sale next year. Jaguar Type 01 marks the first vehicle born from the brand’s exuberant modernist creative philosophy and this all-electric four-door GT brings together dramatic proportions, contemporary luxury and serious performance in a package unlike anything else on the road.
Designed to appeal to the driver, the Type 01 blends agility with composure. A brand new body architecture lays the foundations for Jaguar’s signature driving experience, which offers two distinct characteristics: thrilling and engaging when the roads get interesting, yet refined enough to make longer journeys a pleasure.
A long bonnet, low stance and sleek silhouette give the Type 01 an unmistakable road presence, while clean surfaces ensure the arresting exterior feels purposeful, modern and minimalist.
A true copy of nothing, Jaguar’s designers and engineers genuinely started with a blank canvas, working together to preserve the exuberant modernist creative philosophy of the Type 00 concept. The result is the most aerodynamic Jaguar ever created, without compromising its distinctive character.
Underneath the sculpted bodywork sits an all-new electric architecture developed specifically for Type 01. More than 360 patent applications reflect the ambition behind a car built to deliver both exhilarating performance and the refinement expected of a modern luxury GT.
The stats speak for themselves: 1,015bhp, 1,365Nm of torque and a 0-62mph sprint time of just 3.2 seconds. More importantly, this luxurious continent-crosser can accelerate from 62-112mph in four seconds flat, making highway driving feel effortless.
Long-distance First Class travel is built into the Type 01 experience. Its 118kWh usable battery and advanced 850-volt electrical architecture were carefully curated to offer an anticipated range of up to 450 miles on the official WLTP cycle.
When it is time to rest and recharge, 350kW DC rapid charging can add up to 200 miles of range in as little as 13 minutes, helping make charging stops shorter and journeys more seamless.
This is technology designed to fit around the modern traveller, rather than asking drivers to plan their lives around the car. Inside, the Type 01 is just as ground-breaking, with a central spine that runs the length of the cabin, creating distinct spaces for four occupants. Brass-inspired detailing emphasises the interior’s elegant, longitudinal design.
The driver is presented with a pin-sharp 24-inch single-glass OLED screen that provides a clear, immersive view of essential information and Jaguar’s new operating system. A separate seven-inch touchscreen places frequently used controls within easy reach, blending digital convenience with intuitive operation.
