You've never seen the 26-year-old quite like this.
From our offices in NYC and L.A. to fashion weeks in Milan and Paris, there are certain pieces taking over the closets of Who What Wear's fashion editors. Nearly everyone on the team owns a great caramel-brown leather bag. Top picks from the team include Bally's Belle bag and Coach's Brooklyn tote. For wallet-friendly finds, brands such as Heaven Mayhem, J.Crew, and Dunst are winning out. Pillbox hats, capri pants, and pendant necklaces suspended on leather cords are hitting editor closets for more experimental looks. We're also seeing the return of softer, more romantic pieces—a trend we're tracking for spring 2025—that are taking on the form of lace slip skirts for fall.

Which pieces are so good they land in the closets of Who What Wear editors? A handful are taking over the wardrobes of our fashion team, from the office to the streets of NYC and L.A. Nearly everyone on the team owns a great tote, and timed perfectly for the takeover of lived-in, Birkin-ified bags, our editors are filling them to the brim with outfit changes for morning workouts and evening events. Top picks from the team include Bottega Veneta's Andiamo bag as well as DeMellier's New York tote. For wallet-friendly finds, brands such as Aritzia, J.Crew, and Staud are winning out. Tennis bracelets and sculptural earrings are also a hit and starting to dominate in the jewelry space. We're seeing the pendulum swing from super-oversize everything to fitted shapes, especially in the pant department—Lafayette 148's cigarette pants and Citizens of Humanity's Zurie jeans take on tapered shapes that are increasingly winning over our editors.
If you are planning to make key investment buys, there are front-runners for fall 2024. Which designer pieces are on our recommendation list for fall and beyond? We have a short list. The Row's 90's Bags are many seasons old yet continue to be offered in new colorways such as ice blue and buttercream yellow. They sell out almost as soon as they're dropped, though, so they are worth snapping up quickly. Chemena Kamali's exceptional debut collection at Chloé showcased many covetable pieces, but the Camera Bag is our top buy—a piece that brings boho style back in a fresh, modern way. Jessica McCormack continues to be the under-the-radar jewelry brand every insider wants in their closet for the designer's thoroughly directional take on fine jewelry. At New York Fashion Week, the buzziest piece on the street style scene was a suede jacket. It's an investment-worthy buy with long legs, and this season, there's a stunning chocolate-brown version from Khaite. Tory Burch has an equally covetable pony-hair jacket that was spotted on the front row at the designer's S/S 25 runway show. The fashion set is turning to brands like Prada, Saint Laurent, and Bottega Veneta for smart accessories that can elevate everyday dressing.
What is in demand right now in fashion—like really, really in demand? We did some research to uncover the designer pieces that will be in every style insider's wardrobe for spring. Alaïa's Le Teckel bag is already one of the bags of the season, and the return of the JPG Birkin on the Hermès F/W 24 runways has insiders lining up to buy vintage versions of the iconic bag. The same can be said for Chanel's Mary Jane flats, as the shoes are selling out so fast there are very few sizes available in stores. The Loro Piana Rebecca ballerina shoes and Prada's satin mules are also ones to know. Peter Hawkings brought back an archival belt for his debut collection at Tom Ford, and it has already been spotted on celebs such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. In the realm of clothing, the fashion set is turning to brands like High Sport, Khaite, Toteme, and Tory Burch for modern-day sportswear pieces that can elevate everyday dressing.
If you're looking to shop beyond one season, a smart way to do that is by investing in great wardrobe staples you can wear now and rewear for years to come. From season to season, we see many of the same pieces repeated—albeit with updated shapes, proportions, and colorways that make them feel especially relevant. Phoebe Philo is setting the tone for fresh silhouettes, and trench coats have taken on high funnel necklines. Utility pieces will be in every fashion person's closet thanks to Anthony Vaccarello's S/S 24 Saint Laurent runway, which put safari-inspired fashion at the center of the collection. Throwback sneakers are a key shoe style to own, especially pairs from cult collabs with designers such as Wales Bonner and Bode. Jeans in an indigo wash are an essential. Some designer investment pieces, too, have achieved timeless status. Cartier's Tank Louis finished with a leather band has existed in this space for decades, and The Row's Margaux bag—recently named "a Birkin in the making" by Business of Fashion—has the makings of a modern-day heirloom piece.
The most in-the-know style insiders are always a step ahead when it comes to unlocking the next directional fashion finds. You know, those pieces that set the tone for what season-defining style looks like. If you want to get ahead of the curve, we have some predictions about the key buys and exact pieces that are primed to dominate this season. Conversation-starting accessories are already the talk of the town, including Chanel's flip-flops finished with a CC embellishment, the latest Miu Miu x New Balance sneakers that debuted on the runway, and unexpected staples such as sheer pencil skirts and jackets with built-in capes. Plus, barrel jeans are shaping up to be the jeans of 2024. Oh, and Rhode's Lip Case has already gone viral and is set to be one of the key IYKYK pieces to have in rotation—if you can order one before it sells out again.
Cape coats! Court heels! Eighties earrings! In fashion, the best styling ideas and most directional outfits are often the result of those who test-drive the latest trends to hit the runways and the street style scene. One way to try them without a major commitment is affordable finds that aren't a big investment. Our picks range from easy-to-wear trends to those you'll only spot on early adopters. Crinkled shift dresses, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy–inspired acetate headbands, and printed polo tops each take cues from the major trends from the runways but can blend into your spring wardrobe. Capri pants may take more courage to try out, but we would argue that they are set to be a new staple in just a few months.
Styling details can really make the outfit, especially in the form of great accessories that push a look into a new direction. A leather top-handle bag immediately morphs into a personality piece once it's covered in charms, tassels, and key chains. A tailored black jacket is injected with conversation-starting details with the addition of a brooch. A pleated skirt and polo shirt feel less preppy and more editorial with the addition of colorful swim briefs peeking out from underneath, as inspired by the Miu Miu S/S 24 runway. Pillbox hats, too, have been a surprising piece we've seen everywhere from the collections of The Row and Alaïa to the street style scene at fashion month. The list doesn't end there, as we are seeing other key accessories win out for spring. Standouts to have in your arsenal? Belts with jewelry-like buckles, pendant necklaces suspended on cords, gray tights, shield sunglasses, and silver cuffs also land on the short list for spring. Some are understated, and others are commanding, but each has the power to take even the simplest looks into new territory.
The mood of the season is elegance. On the runways and the street style scene alike, fashion has entered a new era of glamour and opulence that is charting the path for where style is headed this season and beyond. The swan-like fashion is being embodied by sophisticated pieces such as jewelry-like cocktail watches, heavy satin evening jackets, hourglass-shaped blazers with nipped-in waists, A-line dress and skirt silhouettes, and pillbox hats that feel like they have been plucked from another era. This time around, however, there are updated proportions, details, and styling ideas that make them feel entirely modern. What's old has become new again. Many of these pieces haven't been "in" or in circulation on the fashion scene for many years, which is perhaps why they feel so fresh.
Peak wedding season is just around the corner, and the best wedding guest pieces of the year are flooding into the market. Bernadette has become one of the go-to brands for best dressed wedding guests—it somehow balances details like sweet bows with an undeniable element of cool. Minimalistic sequin dresses feel primed for an elegant evening, and Staud has a version in burgundy you should consider adding to your shopping list this season. For a more casual setting, Australian brand SIR should be top of mind. This season, the brand has a beautiful apricot linen dress finished with stone straps that belongs at a great beach wedding. For outfit-finishing elements, look for strappy heels to pair with different outfits and get you through multiple events, a satin bag in an unexpected shade like pale pink, or earrings from buzzy brand Lié Studio.

Every season, there are key runway looks that set the tone for the trends that early adopters are going to be wearing first. While some items may be worth the investment, one way to try them out without major commitment is affordable finds that won't make a big dent in your wallet. Our picks range from classic wardrobe staples you'll wear nonstop to daring items that will get you out of your comfort zone. Trending items like wool capes and barn jackets were spotted on Bottega Veneta's and Altuzarra's runways respectively, but they're still outerwear silhouettes that can easily be blended into your wardrobe this fall and the next. Sheer skirts might take some more convincing to try, but considering how good they looked on street style stars this fashion month, we think they're worth a shot.
The most dialed-in fashion insiders are always a few steps ahead when it comes to narrowing in on the next directional fashion finds. Those ahead-of-the-curve pieces are hard to predict but end up paving the way for the best style of the season. If you tap into the "if you know, you know" pieces for fall, we are placing bets on the key buys and exact pieces that will dominate this season. Powder pink is the color that is already set to take over, with beautiful head-to-toe looks in the Khaite Resort 2025 collection and on the Alaïa S/S 25 runway. Watches continue to dominate conversations in the fashion space, including the just-dropped Chanel Première Sautoir-Belt Watch that is a hybrid timepiece and jewelry item. Fresh styling takes sheer skirts with sweaters tucked inside and funnel-neck outerwear paired with unexpected sequin dresses to an even cooler place. Plus, we're charting the return of items such as modern peep-toe heels, polished clutches, and doubled-up belts. This is just a handful of the IYKYK pieces to have in rotation.
Neon green may have been the color choice of Charli XCX's Brat summer takeover, but a more subdued olive is taking over for fall. We first saw the martini-esque color take form in structured dresses and coats on Gucci's F/W 24 runway in Milan and then in flowy bohemian tops and plaid coats in Kamali's debut for Chloé. Carven's collection also featured a green feathered skirt that could convince even the most minimalist of dressers to dabble in the color trend. On the street style set during fashion month, we saw fashion people make a statement in head-to-toe tonal looks but also use green as a subtle pop of color by way of handbags and shoes. It was also spotted in a few spring/summer 2025 collections (emerging need-to-know brand Diotima was one of them), so it's safe to say we're predicting its longevity to last long after fall.

A great wardrobe begins with versatile workhorse pieces to serve as the foundation of your looks and to be worn season after season. While the running list of items doesn't change much from year to year, tweaks in silhouettes and proportions can bring them forward. The flat-shoe renaissance is still upon us, and sleek almond-shaped leather flats are the clear winners to add to your closet. Loafers, too, are getting sleeker, and penny loafers are all but replacing chunkier styles from past seasons. As we've already touched on, suede jackets are a hero buy for the season—as are double-layer trench coats. Shades of charcoal are a great alternative for black, including the Calvin Klein strapless midi dress Nara Smith was recently spotted wearing on the streets of New York.
Coats! Capes! Jackets! The arrival of fall acts as prime time for layering, and it's not just about a simple peacoat or leather jacket anymore. For 2024, we're seeing classic outerwear items reimagined to fit the standard set by other dominating trends this season. Funnel necks are breathing new life into classic trench coats, and leather and suede collars are making barn jackets feel fresher than ever.

Every season, there's a specific animal print that the fashion set favors. This time, however, it's fair game for all of them. Jacquemus featured an array of zebra handbags, skirts, and dresses in its cliffside F/W 24 show in Capri. Prada and Raf Simons sent a leopard-print coat down Prada's recent runway in Milan, and despite it being for spring/summer 2025, early adopters are taking note immediately. Khaite's highly coveted snakeskin accessories don't seem to be losing steam, as the belts still have a place on our editors' wish lists. It can get tiring to keep up with every fast-paced trend, and in an attempt to focus on personal style, many fashion people have expressed their belief that animal print is a staple and shouldn't be classified as a fleeting trend. We agree, and it seems like designers are taking a similar stance.
The accessories and unexpected details can ultimately make or break an outfit. A lot of people simply wear their clothes, but fashion people take the extra step in creatively styling them. Why wear a scarf around your neck the old-fashioned way when you can pin it with a sculptural brooch? Why keep your head warm with a ribbed beanie when Jackie Kennedy–inspired pillbox hats exist? Whether it's subtle or high-impact, each pick adds this element of intentionality. It also serves as an accessible way to take cues from popular runway moments. A pearl necklace and gloves paired with a simple shift dress can immediately transform you into a Miu Miu F/W 24 model—Miuccia Prada approved!
We're already nearing the time of year when the holiday party invites will start to roll in, and the glitzy outfits must be planned. Tory Burch's F/W 24 collection set the precedent with glittery tinsel dresses that bounced down the runway in the New York Public Library. Sandy Liang continued the vibe for its S/S 25 collection with a bejeweled minidress, but versions equally as stunning are already available on the market for those looking to buy now. Other ways to make your wardrobe feel festive are adding a satin bow to your hairstyle like Brie Larson did for the 2024 Emmys or livening up a simple dress with statement heels à la Loewe.
