Hyrule’s Princess is a familiar face but this time using her Wisdom to save the day. Link has been stolen away by a strange rift, so it’s up to Princess Zelda to save her kingdom.
Meeting a mysterious fairy, Tri, the princess borrows the power of the Tri Rod, which allows her to summon “echoes” - imitations of things found in the environment, like objects and monsters. With this, she can solve problems in a fresh new way. Whether it’s the echo of a table to hop up a ledge, or a carrot to summon a trusty steed to explore Hyrule.
Reminiscent of the open-world escapades around Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild, Echoes of Wisdom brings something new to the classic Zelda formula by letting you choose which order you explore the map. With the freedom to experiment with echoes, and the freedom to explore, this entry in the franchise looks to shake things up.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches on Thursday 26th September, exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Pre-order Zelda’s new adventure at retail to bag goodies like wall scrolls, keychains, and more. At My Nintendo Store, in addition to bonus items, there’s also savings on bundles containing the game and select amiibo, too. Until 26th September, LEGO fans can save 10% off the Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 set, when it’s pre-ordered at the same time as the game.
If you’re after a digital copy of Echoes of Wisdom which you can download to your Nintendo Switch console and have with you at all times then check out the Nintendo eShop. Nintendo Switch Online members can get two games for £84 via Game Vouchers - including this one! The Princess has another nifty trick up her sleeve in Bind, an ability that makes objects follow Zelda’s movement. Reverse Bond is the opposite - tying Zelda’s movement to an object. With them, she can throw massive boulders out of her way, or attach herself to a creature like a bird and fly along with it as it roams Hyrule. Both abilities work in combination with echoes - there are plenty of interactions to discover!
